Why Ledger Live?
Ledger Live connects to your Ledger hardware wallet to provide a secure management layer for crypto assets. Unlike custodial platforms, Ledger keeps your private keys offline on a certified secure element so you remain in full control. The app supports account management, portfolio tracking, market prices, staking, NFT viewing, and third-party dApps — all while requiring physical confirmations on your Ledger device for sensitive actions.
Secure Confirmations
Every send, swap, and staking operation requires on-device approval so sensitive keys never leave the hardware.
Wide Asset Coverage
Manage Bitcoin, Ethereum, and thousands of tokens including ERC-20, SPL, and more — Ledger Live and integrated apps keep pace with new assets.
Cross-Platform
Available on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS (Ledger Live Mobile) with Bluetooth support for compatible devices.
How Ledger Live works
Install Ledger Live from the official start page at Ledger.com/start. Initialize your Ledger device, write down your recovery phrase, and install the blockchain-specific apps that Ledger provides. When you connect the hardware device, Ledger Live reads public account information and builds transactions locally; transaction signing happens on-device so the host computer never sees your private keys.
Set up in minutes
- Download Ledger Live from the official site.
- Connect your Ledger device (USB or Bluetooth for Nano X).
- Create a PIN and write down your recovery phrase offline.
- Add accounts and install apps for each blockchain you want to use.
Ledger Live guides you through each step with clear instructions and safety checks.
Daily usage
To receive funds, generate a receive address in Ledger Live and verify it on your device. To send funds, build the transaction in Ledger Live and confirm the amount, address, and fees on your Ledger device before approving. For staking, follow the in-app flow to delegate or stake eligible assets — final confirmations always occur on-device.

Security and best practices
Ledger's security model centers on isolating the private keys inside a secure element on your device. To keep your assets safe, follow these practical steps:
- Download Ledger Live only from ledger.com/start or official app stores.
- Keep your recovery phrase offline — write it on the supplied card or store it on a metal backup.
- Never enter your recovery phrase into a computer or share it with anyone.
- Verify every transaction on your Ledger device screen; do not approve if details differ.
- Keep Ledger Live and device firmware up to date using the official update prompts.
